From complex perk
to supercharged savings

Project overview—

Novated leasing is a financially complex product involving tax implications, salary packaging structures, FBT considerations and residual value obligations. Despite its strong savings potential, customer understanding is often low and perceived risk is high.

An existing guide was in place to address these challenges, but it had become outdated as legislation evolved and the product offering matured. Rather than delivering a surface-level refresh, this was an opportunity to rethink the structure and narrative from the ground up—ensuring accuracy, clarity and long-term scalability across channels.

Project approach—

To move beyond a simple refresh, I focused first on designing a structured, scalable foundation. The process centred on clarity, reuse and aligning the content to the way customers actually experience a novated lease.

I broke this down into three distinct areas:

Audit & content mapping

I reviewed the existing guide, website, and touchpoints, identifying reusable content and gaps, then mapped out a rough structure in Whimsical.

Modular structure design

I built a modular framework, breaking the journey into reusable content blocks. Individual pieces could be repurposed in email or app.

Journey-based flow

I ensured the guide mirrored the customer’s real-life lease experience—from start, through the life of the lease.

Project delivery—

Initial planning and content writeup

Whimsical allowed me to visually conceptualise the content—structurally and contextually—as it was written. It can be fiddly and not always the best, but it worked for what I needed.

From draft to design

In partnership with a designer, I brought those initial plans to life. The content followed the ‘journey-based’ approach I planned, and took on the modular approach I set out for.

Content for repurposing

As all content is pre-approved, individual sections and modules can be repurposed by teams across different touchpoints without needing to seek the insight of legal. This allows for fast, efficient content rollout.

CTAs within modules

Where appropriate, content modules would include outlinks to high-performing owned channels to provide readers with further information and drive conversion.

Project results—

The aim was to design a guide that functioned not only as a customer-facing resource, but as a single source of truth for product messaging across teams. This was achieved.

  • Created a long-term messaging foundation adaptable across 3 teams, with extension into partner companies as a B2B2C resource.

  • Improved clarity on complex financial topics for customers. Content will now be rolled out into email & site landing page.

  • Reduced future content production effort by establishing reusable modules.

  • Enabled faster updates as regulations change.
